As an All-State Maryland Scholastic Hockey League Goaltender during his high school years at Glenelg High School, Coach Berry's dedication to excellence started early. He continued to hone his skills over 21 years of competitive hockey, culminating in a successful stint as a starting defenseman for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) ACHA D2 team, reaching the national semi-finals in 2013.

Transitioning seamlessly into coaching, Coach Berry has made significant contributions to the hockey community. From his role as an Assistant Coach at Glenelg High School, where he helped lead the team to a Maryland Scholastic Hockey League State Championship, to serving as the Head Coach at Johns Hopkins University (CHF D3), and as an Assistant Coach and Goaltender Coach at Stevenson University (ACHA D2, ACHA D3), his coaching journey has been marked by success and player development.

Coach Berry's expertise extends to goaltender coaching, where he has worked with players of all ages and skill levels at Navy Youth Hockey, TI Selects, Harford North Stars, and currently as the Goaltender Coach for the 3D Goaltending in Nashville, TN. His commitment to mentoring young athletes is further evidenced by his volunteer coaching work with the Baltimore Banners Hockey Program (Led by 2022 Willie O'Ree Award Winner Noel Acton).

With a blend of playing experience, coaching acumen, and a deep love for the sport, Coach Matt Berry is dedicated to helping players reach their full potential and fostering a love for hockey that lasts a lifetime.
